"A race between education and catastrophe...."

As I was going through old family papers, I came across a clipping from what I think was the early to mid 1950s, I found the following quote attributed to Gen. Omar N. Bradley, still relevant: "In this world of ours, we are fundamentally in a race between education and catastrophe; either we will have sufficient knowledge with which to solve our national and international problems, or the catastrophe of an unwelcome tyranny is bound to overcome us in our ignorance. That's why our free public school system is the great hope of our future preparedness, and really, the hope of the free world."

And:
"History wouldn't repeat itself so often if the world would only listen." attributed to C. Norman Collie.
